I am playing this game since 5 years. There are very few games that I love to play and Counter Strike: Condition Zero is one of them.

When I used play this game 3 years back, I always used to try and create my own version of CS:CZ and to do this I used to surf the folders of the CS:CZ to find the clue to edit the game. I found the way to change the game and decided to create Condition Zero: India [just for myself and not for sale] but due to some circumstances I was unable to do it but I would like to share it with you so that you can create your version of CS: CZ.

What I mean by Creating your own CS: CZ version is editing the game's sound and sprays. I wanted to create a Hindi Language version of CS:CZ. Actually, it is very easy to do and there is no requirement of any type of intelligent coding. You just need to have very commonly used application to perform this task. So keep reading to find out.

Required Application and Hardware

  1. Voice Recorder
  2. Microphone [Can use your Phone for Voice Recording if you do not have Microphone]
  3. Photo Editing Tool [like Paint or GIMP]

Changing the Audio

You can can change the sound of the game for purposes like

  • To listen your own voice in the game.
  • Converting it to your understandable language.
  • Or, Just for fun

Procedure

  1. Open the target folder [root folder, where the game is installed]. Typically, it is 'C:\Valve'
  2. Go inside '\Condition Zero\czero\sound' folder.
  3. You can now see 4 folders inside called ambience, music, radio and ui. All four folders contain sounds that played at time of game. The format of the audio is .mp3 and .wav. Let us say that we want change the sound the sound when we say "I am dangerous". Find, 'i_am_dangerous.wav' file in '\Valve\Condition Zero\czero\sound\radio folder'.
  4. Backup it.
  5. Edit with the Sound Editor you are using and overwrite it with the voice you want. You can record your voice also, using microphone, and overwrite it the original file. Bottom line, file name must not change. All the other details like title, contributing artist and Album must also be same. So note down the settings and edit it in your new sound file before overwriting original file. In Windows OS, you can check and edit details by right clicking the file name and going to Properties-> Details Tab.
  6. Done!!! Now check your new voice by playing the game.

Changing the Videos

Changing the videos means to add, remove or change the videos that are played during the start up: Turtlerock and Valve.

Procedure

  1. To add a video, go to folder '\Valve\Condition Zero\czero\media' and paste the new video there and edit 'StartupVids.txt' file by adding '/media/yourvideofile.avi' at the bottom of the text.
  2. To remove a video, go to folder '\Valve\Condition Zero\czero\media' and delete the video as well as its entry in the file 'StartupVids.txt'.
  3. To edit a video, rename your video with the same name of any one existing video and overwrite it.

Changing the Images

You can also change logos and sprays you use inside the game. You just need to go in '\Valve\Condition Zero\valve\logos' folder and edit  the existing .bmp files using any image editor.

Note: Take backup of everything before editing and every details of the new files must be same with original file. Also, use it for your own purpose and do not violate any terms of uses of the game.
